The Algarve will grow 20% in the number of flights to and from Germany during the summer of 2017 - the Algarve Tourism Association (ATA) announced today. From April to October next year, the city of Faro will be directly connected to 13 German cities, with a total number of 2,592 flights expected to take place - 427 flights more than those registered in the same period this year - operated by 8 Airlines.

Among these companies is Germania, which will debut its operations in Faro, allowing the creation of routes from new airports with which the Algarve was not yet connected, namely Erfurt-Weimar, Dresden and Münster-Osnabrück.

ATA, the agency responsible for the external promotion of the Algarve as a tourist destination, sees these numbers as very satisfactory, as they come to validate and materialize the strategy and the effort it has been implementing with this market, with a view to its sustained growth. "The airlines are achieving very positive results in the Algarve, largely as a result of the cooperation and strong relationships that have been established between ATA and these companies, in particular through the development of joint campaigns," said Dora Coelho, Executive Director Of the ATA.

The German market continues to be one of the growing markets in the Algarve, and is therefore of strategic importance for the region. In this context, Germany emerges as the market with the greatest weight in the ATA budget for 2017, accounting for 19.74% of the total planned investment.
